Living On Less Than 10k A Year
Indeed, new research from Prudential UK highlights that the average pensioner income is currently just 12,151 a year, around 12,000 less than the average national income. Prudential's half yearly Retirement Index report into pensioner income and lifestyles finds that a staggering 40% of pensioners, equivalent to more than 4.5 million people, live on less than 10,000 a year, with 55% living on less than 15,000 a year. With 25% of UK pensioners stating that they are purely reliant on 4,381 a year (full basic state pension), it's hardly surprising to find that they say their income is insufficient to enable them to meet their financial commitments and lead a comfortable retirement. The research highlights that pensioners on average would need an extra 4,206 a year to enjoy their retirement.

Falcons flying minus key piece
The Peterson brothers never longed for practice space. Not when they were living in New Jersey, when they had a big backyard to satisfy all of their soccer-playing whims, or when they moved to Florida, home to year-round soccer weather, roughly four years ago. That hasn't been the case this season thanks to a strained groin, which has limited Dale, a co-MVP from a year ago, to roughly two games. So Kevin has decided to fly the family banner, which he will do tonight when the Falcons head to Tampa Prep for the Class 2A-Region 3 championship game, scheduled for 7 p.m. "Last year, I was more defensive, and he was an (attacking midfielder), so I really didn't get to combine with him," said Kevin, a forward/midfielder this season.

TORONTO (CP) - Sunrise Senior Living Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:SZR.UN) looks set to be acquired by U.S.-based Ventas Inc. after the REIT's board of directors endorsed a $2.14-billion takeover bid that gives unitholders a premium of more than 35 per cent. "The board looked at its options over the last little while as we saw companies like ours trading at a higher premium in the U.S. market than they were in Canada," Sunrise CEO Douglas MacLatchy said Monday. "We looked at options to create that value for our unitholders, but in the end a transaction like this was the best way we could think of to get that value." The bid amounts to $15 a unit and represents a 35.7 per cent premium over the $11.05 per unit closing price of the stock last Friday. The REIT's units closed at $14.90 on the TSX on Monday, up $3.85, or 34.84 per cent, with nearly 19 million units changing hands.
