Sometimes I think God sticks a certain Bible verse in my mind that is intended specifically for me. Maybe not me alone, like a verse or passage was written just and only for me, but some message that God knows I need to pay attention to. Stealthily tucked away in Paul's intimate letter to his friends at Philippi are some words that have haunted me all of my adult life. Somehow, I can't get away from Paul's personal observation that he has finally understood the difficult lesson “…to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Philippians 4:11-12 I wish I could learn that lesson. I think God wishes that also.

Man held in attack on woman, police
A resident of an assisted-living facility was arrested early Tuesday after he allegedly attacked a fellow resident with a handsaw and threw a wheelchair down a flight of stairs at officers, who eventually subdued him with a stun gun. David J. Cooper, 53, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a police officer in the 1:35 a.m. incident. Petaluma police received a report of a disturbance at the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility at 815 Wood Sorrel Drive. Responding officers found a female resident in the lobby suffering from what appeared to be serious head wounds, said Sgt. Matthew Stapleton. When police confronted Cooper, he refused to drop the handsaw, ignored their attempts to negotiate with him and threw the wheelchair down a stairwell, Stapleton said.

Author Dixie F. Sellers shares a poignant memoir of her husband's battle with Alzheimer's disease and her struggle to care for him in her new book, "How Peggy Learned about Alzheimer's and Can Papa Ben Play Ball?"
